The 1991/92 season was the first edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with eight teams. HK Jesenice became the first master .

Participant field and mode

Of the eight participating teams, two were run as second teams for the favored clubs from Jesenice and Ljubljana. Since the first season of the Alpine League took place before the national championship , the playing time was shortened. In the basic round, a simple round-trip was held. The four best teams played out the placement for the playoffs in an intermediate round. The series for third place was played in the Best of Five mode , the final in the Best of Seven mode.

Basic round

The basic round was dominated by HK Jesenice and HDD Olimpija Ljubljana. Only HK Bled could approximately compete with the two teams. However, HK Slavija Ljubljana remained without a win , who scored only nine goals in the fourteen games and ended up in last place with a goal difference of -297.

The final series between the two favorite clubs was extremely close. Jesenice was able to pull away to 3: 1 after Laibach's opening win in the series, but Laibach finally managed to equalize with ease. Before the last game, the Ljubljana team had already had a sticker with the words Olimpija Ljubljana - first Slovenian champion - affixed to the trophy. In the game, however, Jesenice clearly prevailed and won the title. The sticker was eventually removed by the doctor Jesenices and is kept to this day as a memento of the historic victory.
