Hiroe Yuki

Hiroe Yuki ( Japanese 湯 木 博 恵 , Yuki Hiroe ; born November 15, 1948 in Aki-gun ( Hiroshima ); † September 7, 2011 in Tokyo , married Hiroe Niinuma , Japanese 新 沼 博 恵 , Niinuma Hiroe ) was a badminton player from Japan . Her husband was the enka singer Kenji Niinuma .

Career

Hiroe Yuki won her first Japanese championship title in women's singles in 1969. From 1972 to 1976 she won five more individual titles in a row.

In 1970 she won the gold medal in women's singles at the Asian Games, and silver in 1974. From 1969 to 1978 she was in the final of this competition four times with the Japanese Uber Cup team. The first two finals and the last were won by Japan, while in 1975 it was only enough to take second place at this World Cup for women’s teams. In 1969, 1974, 1975 and 1977 she won the All England . At the 1972 Summer Olympics , she won bronze in the badminton tournament , which was only carried out as a demonstration sport . At the Badminton World Championships in 1977 she won the bronze medal.

In 1986 she married Kenji Niinuma. The marriage had two children.
