The 2006/07 season of the Slovenian ice hockey league was played with eight teams. The defending champion was HK Jesenice , who participated with his team in the Austrian ice hockey league for the first time this season and therefore only competed with a farm team in the Slovenian league. Jesenice did not reach the final, however, the new champion was HDD Olimpija Ljubljana instead .
mode
Before the start of the national Slovenian championship, the transnational Interliga was held for the last time (see Interliga 2006/07 ), in whose A group the Hungarian club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár won the championship title. The farm team from Jesenice won the second performance level (group B).
The Slovenian championship was then held again in a shortened form. A simple round-trip round in the basic round (14 games per team) was followed by a placement round of the best four teams. The two group winners then played the final against each other.

In the final series, the first and second placed clubs competed against each other. Despite the opening victory of the HK BR Slavija, they lost five games to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana, who celebrated their eleventh championship title. After this season, Ljubljana only competed with the second team in the Slovenian league, as they have been participating in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since the 2007/08 season .
