Matej Hočevar (born April 30, 1982 in Ljubljana , at the time: SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .
Career
Matej Hočevar began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , for whose professional team he was active in the Slovenian ice hockey league from 2000 to 2002 . He was in the seasons 2000/01 and 2001/02 each Slovenian champion with his team. The winger then moved to city neighbor HK Slavija Ljubljana , for whom he played for three years before returning to HDD Olimpija in 2005. With the club he became Slovenian champions for the third time in the 2006/07 season . After the club was admitted to the Austrian ice hockey league for the 2007/08 season , the right-handed shooter and his team immediately became runner-up behind EC Red Bull Salzburg . In the following years he became a permanent fixture in the Olimpija EBEL team. He was also used in the playoffs of the Slovenian league and again Slovenian champions in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. In 2016, he also won the Slovenian cup competition with Olimpija .
International
For Slovenia , Hočevar took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 1999 and 2000 in the European Division I and the U20 World Championships in 2001 in Division II and 2002 in Division I.
In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the 2009 and 2012 World Championships and the 2011 top division . He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games .
