The 25th ice hockey world championships of the U20 juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF were the ice hockey world championships of 2001 in the age group of the under-20s (U20). Between December 10, 2000 and April 28, 2001, a total of 37 national teams took part in the five tournaments of the top division as well as divisions I to III and the qualification for the same.

For both Junior World Championships from this year - as with the seniors and women - a new name for the different groups was applied. The B group was designated as Division I, the C group as Division II and the D group as Division III.

The team of the Czech Republic became the world champion for the second time and defeated Finland 2-1 in the final . The German team missed the promotion from Division I to the top division due to the defeat in a direct comparison against the later promoted France and took second place. The Switzerland finished sixth in the Top Division, confirming the previous year, Austria was in the Division I fifth.
