Jay Harrison (* 3. November 1982 in Oshawa , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career 1998-2016 among other 372 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs , Carolina Hurricanes and Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League on contested the position of defender .
Career
Jay Harrison began his career as a hockey player with the Brampton Battalion , for which he was active from 1998 to 2002 in the Ontario Hockey League . During this time he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as the 82nd player of the Toronto Maple Leafs . The defender then played three seasons each for their farm teams from the American Hockey League , the St. John's Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies . Harrison also completed 13 games for the Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League between 2005 and 2007 .
For the 2008/09 season , the right-handed player moved to Europe for EV Zug from the Swiss National League A , but ended it at his ex-club Toronto Maple Leafs, for which he completed another seven games in the NHL, in which he was a template. On July 9, 2009 Harrison received a two-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes , which is valid for both the NHL and the AHL.
After five years, he left Carolina in December 2014 and joined the Winnipeg Jets , who in return gave the Hurricanes a vote for the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft .
In February 2016, Harrison, Andrew Ladd and Matt Fraser were handed over to the Chicago Blackhawks , who in return gave Marko Daňo and a first-round vote for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft to the Jets. Harrison did not play another game after the transfer and ended his career.
International
For Canada , Harrison took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 2001 and 2002 .
