The Mississippi RiverKings are an American ice hockey team based in Southaven , Mississippi and were a founding member of the Central Hockey League , a North American minor league . Since the 2011/12 season they have been playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League .
history
In the first six CHL seasons the River Kings wore their home games at 10,000-seater Mid-South Coliseum from, then the moved franchise to DeSoto Civic Center to a built in 2000 Arena with a capacity of 8,400 seats in Southaven , Mississippi , a Memphis suburb. Before the start of the 2007/08 season, it was renamed Mississippi RiverKings .
In 2002 and 2003, the RiverKings each won the Ray Miron President's Cup , the championship of the Central Hockey League. From 2001 to 2006 they were the farm team of the Toronto Maple Leafs from the National Hockey League . Subsequently, their cooperation partners were temporarily the New York Rangers from the NHL, as well as the Hartford Wolf Pack from the American Hockey League . In June 2011 the team was inducted into the Southern Professional Hockey League .
