Rapid City Rush is an American ice hockey team from Rapid City , South Dakota . The team has played in the ECHL since the 2014/15 season .

history

The officials of the Central Hockey League announced on June 2, 2007 that the city of Rapid City of South Dakota would receive an expansion franchise. This started playing at the beginning of the 2008/09 season . In their first season, the team reached the third of four places in the Northwest Division, which they missed the playoffs for the Ray Miron President's Cup with 53 points in 64 games . In the 2009/10 season , the team won the Ray Miron President's Cup for the first time, after they defeated the Allen Americans in six games in the finals .

On October 7, 2014, the Rush franchise and the other six remaining CHL attendees were accepted into the ECHL . The CHL's game operations were discontinued due to fewer teams.
