The Lexington Men O'War were an American ice hockey franchise from Lexington , Kentucky that played in the East Coast Hockey League from 2002 to 2003 . The Men O'War played their home games in the Rupp Arena .
history
The franchise was founded in 2002 as the successor to the Macon Whoopee , who had moved to Lexington , and began playing in the East Coast Hockey League . The head coach was Jim Wiley , who had previously led the National Hockey League team San Jose Sharks as head coach. In their only season, the team qualified for the play-offs. In the first round, the team lost in three games against the Toledo Storm and was eliminated from the competition. Shortly afterwards the franchise was dissolved. The Utah Grizzlies emerged as the successor team in 2005 .
