Marc-André Thinel (born March 24, 1981 in Saint-Jérôme , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dragons de Rouen in the French Ligue Magnus since 2005 .

Career

Marc-André Thinel began his career as a ice hockey player with the Victoriaville Tigres , for which he was active from 1997 to 2001 in the Canadian Junior League Québec Major Junior Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1999 in the fifth round as a total of 145 players by the Montréal Canadiens , for which he however never played. Instead, the attacker ran in the 2001/02 season for the Québec Citadelles in the American Hockey League , for which he scored ten points in his rookie year in a total of 75 games. The following year, the left shooter was parallel for the Lexington Men O'War in the East Coast Hockey League and the Utah Grizzlies from the AHL on the ice.

After Thinel had started the 2003/04 season in the ECHL with the Columbus Cottonmouths , he finished it in the AHL team of the Hamilton Bulldogs , where he also bridged the time of the lockout in the 2004/05 season . Then the Canadian signed a contract with the Dragons de Rouen from the French Ligue Magnus . There he developed into one of the best players in the league and won the trophy Charles Ramsey in 2007 and 2008 as top scorer with 21 and 24 goals respectively. With his goals, the winger had a significant share in winning the French championship title in the 2005/06 season, as well as the double from the championship and Coupe de la Ligue in the 2007/08 season.

In 2009 Thinel played the final tournament for the IIHF Continental Cup with the Dragons , in which he and his team took second place behind the Slovak representative MHC Martin . At this tournament, the Canadian was also able to convince at European level and was chosen as the best striker, goal scorer and top scorer of the IIHF Continental Cup, although he had to share the last two awards with the Czech Lukáš Havel from MHC Martin.
