The Nashville Knights were an American ice hockey team from Nashville , Tennessee . The team played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1989 to 1996 .

history

The Nashville Knights were founded in 1989 as a franchise of the East Coast Hockey League . In their premiere season, the 1989/90 season , the team immediately reached the playoffs, in which they were defeated by the later finalists Winston-Salem Thunderbirds in the first round with 1: 4 wins in the best-of-seven series. The team completed its two most successful seasons in 1992/93 and 1994/95, when it only failed in the third playoff round. There they lost to the eventual winner Toledo Storm and the Greensboro Monarchs, who later lost in the final .

In the summer, the franchise was relocated to Pensacola , Florida , where it then took part in ECHL gaming operations under the name Pensacola Ice Pilots .
