The Indy Fuel are an American ice hockey franchise based in Indianapolis , Indiana . It has been playing in the ECHL since the 2014/15 season . The team plays its home games at the Fairgrounds Coliseum . The Chicago Blackhawks from the National Hockey League and the Rockford IceHogs from the American Hockey League act as cooperation partners of the Fuel .
history
In November 2013, the ECHL Board of Directors approved the entry of an Indianapolis-based franchise. A little later it was announced that the team will play in the recently renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum and will be called Indy Fuel . The name Fuel refers to the various forms of motor sports that are traditional in Indianapolis.
