The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs were a professional ice hockey team , which consists of the city of Bossier City - Shreveport in Louisiana came. The team belonged to the Central Hockey League and played their home games in the CenturyTel Center .
history
From 1997 to 2001, the Mudbugs team played in the Western Professional Hockey League , in which they won the Taylor Cup three times in a row from 1998 to 2001 , and from 2001 it was a member of the Central Hockey League . From 1997 to 2000 the team was initially called the Shreveport Mudbugs , but since 2000 it has been known as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
The Mudbugs were one of the few successful teams in the region and have just recently celebrated successes. In the CHL playoffs of the 2005/06 season, the team reached the final of the Ray Miron President's Cup , in which they failed at the Laredo Bucks . Previously, they had won both the division title and the conference title.
The team was trained from 2000 by the former Mudbugs player Scott Muscutt . Due to the success of the team, the number of visitors has increased steadily over the past few years and averaged 5,006 spectators in the 2006 play-offs . The Mudbugs played the CHL All-Star Game in 2007 . Until 2008, the franchise had a cooperation agreement with the Rochester Americans ( American Hockey League ) and the Buffalo Sabers from the National Hockey League . In the 2010/11 season , the team won the Ray Miron President's Cup after the Colorado Eagles were defeated in seven encounters in the final series. In June 2011, however, the Mudbugs stopped playing after 14 years.
The mudbugs' rivals within the league were the Laredo Bucks , Memphis RiverKings and the Colorado Eagles.
