Bossier City ( fr .: Ville de Bossier ) is a city in Bossier Parish in northwestern US -amerikanischen state of Louisiana . In 2010 Bossier City had 61,315 inhabitants, the number of which increased to 64,655 by the 2012 estimate. Bossier City is located across from the larger city of Shreveport on the Red River and is part of the metropolitan area of Shreveport - Bossier City .

Near Bossier City is the Barksdale Air Force Base with the 2nd Bomb Wing , the 8th US Air Fleet and the 917th Wing . It was founded on February 2, 1933 and is one of the largest employers in the region. The base covers 89 km².
Sports and gambling
Bossier City is home to the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings, an arena football team . Also based in Bossier City were the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs , an ice hockey team that played in the Central Hockey League .
The city is a gambling mecca, with casinos lining the Red River and horse racing in Harrah's Louisiana Downs, which opened in 1974.
