The Alexandria Warthogs were an American ice hockey team from Alexandria , Louisiana . The team played in the Western Professional Hockey League from 1998 to 2000 .

history

The Alexandria Warthogs were founded in 1998 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League . Their first season, the 1998/99 season, they finished in fifth and penultimate place in the WPHL East Division. In 69 games, the team won only 25 times, whereupon coach Rod Davidson was replaced by Mike Zruna for the following season . Under Zruna, the team even deteriorated compared to the previous year and won only 21 games in the 1999/2000 season, which was increased by two game days, and ended the season with 52 points in last place in their division. Thereupon those responsible decided to take the franchise out of the WPHL's game operations and to dissolve it after only two years, in which the playoffs were clearly missed, due to unsuccessfulness.
