German amateur soccer champion in 1992 was Rot-Weiss Essen . In the final in Essen's Georg-Melches-Stadion on June 13, 1992 they won 3-2 afterwards against SpVgg Bad Homburg . The runners-up of the ten league seasons carried out the competition in a preliminary round divided into north and south, the group winners then met in the final.
Participating teams
The champions of the ten Oberliga seasons as well as the third of the Oberliga Nord from the 1991/92 season played in a promotion round , the four promoted teams for the 2nd Bundesliga . The runner-up took part in the competition for the German amateur championship.
