Roman Alfred sex or - in Polish - Roman Alfred Geszlecht (born December 28, 1961 in Chorzów ) is a former German - Polish football player . He played 104 Bundesliga games (2 goals) for Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Hannover 96 and FC 08 Homburg .
Career as a player
Gender began his career with Zagłębie Sosnowiec in the Polish Ekstraklasa . In 1982 he came to Germany and was initially under contract with FC Schalke 04 , where he was not used. From the summer of 1983 he played for Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga . Gender did a commercial apprenticeship at Bayer Leverkusen. While he did not get beyond the role of substitute in his first season , he became a regular player under Dettmar Cramer in the 1984/85 season , but was no longer considered in the second half of the season.
During the 1985/86 season left Bayer and moved to league competitor Hannover 96 , who was in a relegation battle. At "96" he experienced three coaches, Jürgen Rynio , Jörg Berger and Helmut Kalthoff , who saw him as an integral part of their defensive line-up, but could not prevent relegation at the end of the season.
Sex then moved on to FC 08 Homburg , which had just been promoted to the Bundesliga . In Homburg, too, he was one of coach Udo Klug's regular players straight away . With Homburg he celebrated relegation in the 1986/87 season - albeit only in the relegation games against FC St. Pauli . As in the course of his previous station in Hanover, FC Homburg often changed coaches in the 1987/88 season . While Uwe Klimaschefski and Gerd Schwickert largely renounced the services of sex, Slobodan Čendić , who was deployed in February 1988, built on him, but ultimately could not prevent relegation.
Gender did not stay in Homburg, but switched to the second division club Rot-Weiss Essen . After only one year he left the club and went to the lower class Düsseldorfer SV 04 . In 1991 he returned to Essen, which had meanwhile been relegated to the Oberliga Nordrhein . After a futile attempt that only led to winning the amateur championship in 1992 , the 1992/93 season returned to paid football, which ended with license revocation and forced relegation during the season . Nevertheless, he reached the cup final with the club in the same year , but lost 3-1 to Werder Bremen . After two years in the regional league , gender ended his career at the end of the 1995/96 season despite the successful recovery.
National team
Gender was part of the squad of the Polish team for the 1981 Junior World Cup in Australia and was used there twice.
Career as a coach
In the 1996/97 season , gender was temporarily for three games as the successor to the dismissed Rudi Gores coach of his former club Rot-Weiss Essen, before he was replaced by Dieter Brei . In the second half of the 1998/99 season he acted as head coach of Wuppertaler SV in the Regionalliga West , at the end of which the club's license was withdrawn.
After the career
After the end of his career, sex opened an insurance office in Essen-Rüttenscheid. He has been doing this part-time job since the 1980s. Gender is an active member of the traditional Bayer 04 Leverkusen team and still lives with his family in Essen-Karnap.
