Gerd Schwickert

Gerd Schwickert (born August 14, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player and soccer coach .

Player career

Gerd Schwickert played from 1974 to 1976 for 1. FSV Mainz 05 and from 1976 to 1983 for FC 08 Homburg and played a total of 209 games in the 2. Bundesliga , in which he scored 33 goals. He then worked for SV Neckargerach from 1983 to 1986 .

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, Gerd Schwickert became the managing director of FC Homburg and in May 1987 initially stood in as an interim coach until the end of the season. Later he worked twice as a trainer in Homburg, each for a short time - after the dismissals of the interim trainers Uwe Klimaschefski and Slobodan Čendić . From 1990 to the end of the 1991/92 season, Schwickert was then continuously employed as head coach of FC Homburg. Gerd Schwickert later worked in the regional league as a coach at FC Augsburg , from 2000 to November 2002 at SV Wehen 1926 (today's SV Wehen Wiesbaden ) and at SV Elversberg (April 2003 to April 2004). Since completing his coaching career, he has been working as a scout for the Bundesliga club SC Freiburg .
