Udo Klug
Udo Klug (born July 21, 1928 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 3, 2000 in Hainstadt ) was a German football player , coach and official.
player
Udo Klug worked as a goalkeeper for FSV Frankfurt , among others . Between 1945 and 1947 he was used 18 times for FSV in the Oberliga Süd . After moving to local rivals Rödelheimer FC in 1947, he only played once in the league for them. Later he was still active at SpVgg Bad Homburg . With this club he reached the final of the German amateur soccer championship in 1955 , but that Bad Homburg lost 5-0 against Sportfreunde victories.
Trainer and manager
As a coach he worked for SV Darmstadt 98 , Kickers Offenbach (simultaneously in one person, managers), the 1. FC Nürnberg and FC 08 Homburg in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga and in Switzerland for the first division side FC Wettingen operates as a manager at Eintracht Frankfurt , FC 08 Homburg and Dynamo Dresden .
On May 1, 1966, Klug became the trainer of the amateurs at Eintracht Frankfurt, which he supervised until 1971. From 1969 to 1971 he also coached the U23 of Eintracht Frankfurt before he took his first job as head coach at SV Darmstadt 98 in the Regionalliga Süd in the 1971/72 season. He built a successful team there with players from the second row from Eintracht Frankfurt, which became champions of the Regionalliga Süd in 1973. In the 1976/77 season he was given leave of absence on November 9, 1976. Only a few days later he replaced Zlatko Čajkovski as coach at Kickers Offenbach. He stayed there until the end of the 1977/78 season. In the years 1978-1981 he was employed as a manager of Eintracht Frankfurt and jumped in the season 1978/79 from December 10, 1978 to January 7, 1979 as a coach interim solution. After his contract as a manager at Eintracht Frankfurt had expired, he was not long asked when 1. FC Nürnberg called him in September 1981. There he became the fifth head coach to be signed by club president Michael A. Roth in 1981 . Nevertheless, Udo Klug held out in the dugout from September 9, 1981 to October 25, 1983, before he too was fired. Klug led the "Club" in 1982 to the DFB Cup final against FC Bayern Munich, which after an initial 2-0 lead, however, was lost 4-2. In the 1985/1986 season he coached SV Darmstadt 98 again in the 2nd Bundesliga. As manager of FC 08 Homburg, he jumped into the Bundesliga as an interim coach from August 23, 1986 to May 11, 1987 in the 1986/1987 season. He then took on an engagement in Switzerland with the first division club FC Wettingen, which he coached from March 1988 to October 1, 1990 and led from League B to League A and the second round of the UEFA Cup and there just at SSC Napoli failed before he was dismissed - lying with his team in last place. His engagement at Dynamo Dresden in the 1993/94 season, where he asked for the termination of his manager contract after only six months, was curious. His last coaching position was in 1994/95 Eintracht Trier (Regionalliga West / Südwest). Most recently he worked for MSV Duisburg as a player observer until 1998 and died on October 3, 2000 after a long and serious illness.
