FC Bayern Munich became the first in the 1984/85 season in the German Bundesliga and thus German men's championship .

Season overview

Bayern Munich achieved a start-to-finish victory for the third time this season. After the first match day, the team was tied on goals and points with Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Köln at the top of the table, from the second match day they were the sole leaders until the end of the season. After six wins in a row they had four points and after the 10th matchday even five points ahead of Mönchengladbach, before this lead melted to one point after the 14th matchday. As a result, Bayern stayed ahead, the teams in the following places changed constantly. On the last day of the match, the Munich team had two points and two goals ahead of Werder Bremen . While Bremen lost the last game at Borussia Dortmund 2-0, Bayern won 1-0 at Eintracht Braunschweig and thus secured the championship with a four-point lead.

The catch-up game of the 12th matchday Borussia Mönchengladbach – Bayern Munich (3-2) on December 11, 1984 at Mönchengladbacher Bökelberg became the first live full broadcast of a Bundesliga game. Heribert Faßbender commented for the broadcasting ARD .
