Wolf-Günter Wiesel

Wolf-Günter Wiesel (born November 16, 1947 ) is a German former football referee from Ottbergen .

Career

Wiesel made his first division debut on May 30, 1983. In total, he was a referee 110 times in the Bundesliga , often in a team with the assistants Ralf Hilmes (Eintracht Nordhorn) and Holger Waldmann (Union Lohne). He whistled in professional football until 1995 and was also used as a FIFA referee in European cup competitions internationally - including twice in the UEFA Champions League in the 1991/92 and 1992/93 seasons . Wiesel also whistled the 1984 DFB Cup semi-final between FC Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich , which went down in German football history because of its dramaturgy, and the 1991 DFB Supercup final between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Werder Bremen .

Wiesel was temporarily active in the game committee of the DFB . There he was also head of the Futsal Working Group. Until March 2006 he was also chairman of the game committee of the North German Football Association . After he had already been chairman of the supervisory board of Hannover 96 for a year in 1997 and had been a member of the supervisory board without interruption since then, he was re-elected to this function in 2006.

Private life

In 2006 Wiesel worked full-time as a key account manager at a company in Erlangen. As a delegate for security issues at international matches, he inspects stadiums across Europe for UEFA .
