The 2006 DFB Women's Cup was won by the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . The Brandenburg women won the competition for the third time in a row and, as in 2004, secured the double. In the final they beat 1. FFC Frankfurt 2-0. However, it was much more difficult than in previous years.

For the first time in years, clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga (Sand, Crailsheim and Saarbrücken) reached the quarter-finals. However, the trio was eliminated due to high defeats. In addition, for the first time, no second teams were allowed to participate in the DFB Cup. If a second team has won the association cup, the defeated finalist moves up.

The games took place on August 7, 2005. The first round offered three favorite falls. Jena and Wacker Munich lost their games against regional league clubs. The FC Gütersloh, which started with hopes of promotion, lost to the relegation candidate Timmel.

The games took place on October 16, 2005. In this round, the remaining top division clubs intervene in the action. Potsdam had to go to penalties against Essen-Schönebeck. Brauweiler could only defeat the second division Wattenscheid after extra time.
