The 2005/06 Bundesliga was the 16th season of the women's Bundesliga . The 1st FFC Turbine Potsdam was able to secure the all-German championship for the second time. For this, the old master FSV Frankfurt said goodbye to the women's football stage with many negative records.
Season course
For the first time in many years, three teams had a real chance of winning the title for a long time. Two game days before the end, Turbine Potsdam, the most goal-hungry team, finally prevailed. 115 goals meant a new league record. With 36 goals, Conny Pohlers was the top scorer for the second time in her career. In addition to the championship, the “goal bees” also won the cup. In the final of the UEFA Women's Cup, however, they lost to 1. FFC Frankfurt . Behind Potsdam, FCR 2001 Duisburg was again runner-up. For the first time, the 1. FFC Frankfurt only got the bronze medal in the championship. However, winning the UEFA Woman's Cup helped ease the pain.
The SC 07 Bad Neuenahr continued its upward trend. For the fourth time in a row he was able to achieve a better placement. The targeted purchase of young, highly talented players turned the former gray mouse into serious competition for the top clubs.
As in the previous year, the teams from Hamburg, Munich and Freiburg cavorted in the broad midfield. Last year's climber Essen-Schönebeck was able to establish itself in the league with a good season. On the other hand, Heike Rheine continued to slide. Promoted Brauweiler was able to keep the class with a bang, while fellow promoted Sindelfingen had to return to the lower house despite an impressive final spurt.
FSV Frankfurt played a devastating season. You started the season with a completely overwhelmed team and set one negative record after the other. No team scored fewer goals, conceded more hits than the old master from Bornheim. They topped the record for the biggest defeat three times: First they lost 0:13 at home to Potsdam; in the second half of the season in Potsdam 16: 0; The mark was exceeded by local rivals 1. FFC, who won the derby with a whopping 17-0. The end of the story: the FSV is closing its women's football department after the season and only offers girls' football. This ended the chronicle of one of the most successful German women's football departments.
VfL Wolfsburg and TSV Crailsheim returned from the 2nd Bundesliga . Both clubs managed to re-emerge immediately.
