Isabel Kerschowski (born January 22, 1988 in East Berlin ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Isabel Kerschowski grew up in the Berlin district of Hellersdorf . In her youth she was a successful athlete. After her twin sister Monique Kerschowski suffered cartilage damage in her knee in 2000, she started playing soccer by chance. When she wanted to buy new soccer shoes, she happened to meet a representative from BSC Marzahn who was looking for new players for the girls' team. Within a very short time, Kerschowski was appointed to the Berlin selection team. In 2005 she won the U-18 country cup with the Berlin selection and was the tournament's top scorer. Her talent was not hidden from the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . In the summer of 2005 she moved to the Bundesliga with her sister . At the same time they went to boarding school at the Potsdam Sports School.

In the first season Kerschowski was able to win both the championship and the cup . In the cup final against 1. FFC Frankfurt , she scored the decisive 1-0. On January 12, 2008 she won the DFB Indoor Cup , on January 24, 2009 she won the DFB Indoor Cup again with the "Turbines" and was the tournament's top scorer with five goals. At the end of the season, she and her team became German champions for the second time. In 2010 Kerschowski not only won the German championship again with Potsdam , but also the Champions League .

For the 2012/13 season Kerschowski signed with Bayer 04 Leverkusen , where she was immediately appointed team captain. After two years she was bid farewell in Leverkusen and signed a two-year contract with the reigning German champions VfL Wolfsburg for the 2014/15 season . After four years at VfL Wolfsburg , with whom she won the Bundesliga twice and cup winners four times, she returned to Bayer 04 Leverkusen on June 22, 2018 . Due to a torn cruciate ligament , she only made three appearances in the 2018/19 season. Her contract was extended by one year in July 2019. In December 2019 she could then be used again in the Bundesliga.

National team

In July 2006, Kerschowski won the European Championship in Switzerland with the U-19 national team . She scored two goals in the final. In July 2007, she defended the European title with the U-19 selection . In 2008 she took third place with the U-20 national team at the World Cup in Chile . Most recently, Kerschowski was a member of the U-23 national team until 2010 , for which she was able to score five goals in twelve games.

On May 10, 2007 made her debut in the German national team at the European Championship qualifier in Wales . Almost six years later she was nominated for the 2013 Algarve Cup by national coach Silvia Neid due to an injury to Bianca Schmidt . There she came in the game against Japan for her second appearance for the senior national team. In the run-up to the European Championship , she was subsequently appointed to the provisional German squad after Alexandra Popp's cancellation due to injury .
