Henrike Sahlmann (born February 21, 1997 in Essen ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Henrike Sahlmann began her football career in 2001 at SGS Essen (until 2012: SG Essen-Schönebeck ), where she has played in all junior teams since then. Since 2012 she has played for the B-Juniors who play in the Bundesliga West / Southwest , and also moved up to the Bundesliga team for the 2013/14 season . The defender made her Bundesliga debut on October 13, 2013 (5th matchday) in an 8-0 home win against VfL Sindelfingen , where she came on for Sarah Freutel in the 81st minute . By the end of the season, she had played six more top division games, but only played four times in the Bundesliga in the following three years. In the summer of 2017, she signed a contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, relegated to the Bundesliga .

Between 2011 and 2012, Sahlmann played a total of three games for the German U-15 national team .

Sahlmann did her Abitur at the Borbeck grammar school in Essen. She is a trained banker and is currently studying to be a teacher at the University of Duisburg-Essen .
