The 9th UEFA European Under-19 Championship for women was in the period from 11. bis 22. July 2006 in Switzerland held. Germany won the tournament by beating France 3-0 . For Germany it was already the fourth tournament victory. Players born on January 1, 1987 or later were eligible to play.

qualification

44 nations had registered for the tournament. Switzerland was automatically qualified to host, while Germany, France and Spain received a bye for the first qualifying round.

The remaining 40 national teams were divided into ten groups of four teams each. The group winners, the runners-up and the five best thirds reached the second qualifying round.

The 28 remaining teams were divided into seven groups of four teams each. Only the group winners qualified for the final tournament.
