Maren Meinert (born August 5, 1973 in Rheinhausen , today a part of Duisburg ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .

career

Career as a player

In the Bundesliga , Meinert played for FC Rumeln-Kaldenhausen or, after it was renamed FCR Duisburg, for the same and FFC Brauweiler Pulheim 2000 , before the offensive midfielder joined the Boston Breakers in WUSA in 2001 together with Bettina Wiegmann . In 2003 she was voted the most valuable player in the WUSA. With 81 scorer points, she is the most successful scorer in WUSA history. Her greatest successes were winning the European Championships in 1995 , 1997 , 2001 with the German national team and winning the 2003 World Cup in the USA. Between October 9, 1991 and October 12, 2003, she completed a total of 92 international matches for the DFB team. After winning the World Cup, Maren Meinert ended her career as a player in 2003.

Career as a trainer

From July 2005 to August 2019 she worked as a trainer at the DFB . There she coached the U-19 and the U-20 national team of women and was able to win the U-20 World Cup twice and the U-19 European Championship three times.
