The German national soccer team of U-20 women represents Germany in international women's soccer . The national team reports to the DFB and is trained by the former national player Maren Meinert . The U-20 national team only plays international matches if the U-19 national team qualifies for the U-20 World Cup at the U-19 European Championship . The team's greatest success was winning first place at the 2010 U-20 World Cup in Germany, for which they were named Junior Sports Team of the Year on October 15, 2010 .

Since neither FIFA nor UEFA had created an official competition for the U20 women age group until 2006 , the Nordic Cup in the 1990s was considered the most important date for these teams to compete among the strongest European associations - including the US American Federation - to determine a winner. The Nordic Cup was thus an unofficial European championship. From 1990 to 1997 the tournament was reserved for the U 20 female age group.
