Nordic Cup
The Nordic Cup is an annual tournament for women's national football teams . As UEFA does not organize a competition for the age groups concerned (U-16 / U-17 or U-20 / U-21 / U-23), the Nordic Cup tournaments are considered unofficial Junior World Championships.
U-16 / U-17 tournament
Story / mode
From 1988 to 1997 the Nordic Cup was the unofficial women's European championship of the U-16 national teams and from 2008 onwards. From 1998 to 2007 the U-17 national teams played this unofficial European championship title.
In 1988 the first tournament with four (Scandinavian) teams took place in Denmark, in which everyone had to play against each other once. Norway won ahead of Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
1989 added a selection of the Netherlands and one from the State of Hesse the number of participants from the previous year; Norway won (again) ahead of Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hesse, Finland.
In 1990 and from 1997 the tournament was held in two groups of four teams each, with the first-placed team playing the final. The teams placed next in the respective groups determined the winners for places three, five and seven. A selection team from Germany won the tournament in 1998, 2001, 2005, 2008
From 1991 to 1996 the tournament was held with six teams (simple point round; as in 1989). The respective winners were the national teams from Sweden, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands.
