The German national soccer team of U-23 women represents Germany in international women's soccer . The national team was founded in 2007 and replaced the previous U-21 national team . The team is coached by Ulrike Ballweg , who is also the assistant coach of the senior national team .

Since neither FIFA nor UEFA had created an official competition for the U-23 women age group, the Nordic Cup was the most important date for these teams to compete among the strongest European associations, including the US association Determine winners. The Nordic Cup was thus an unofficial European championship. From 2007 the tournament will be reserved for the U23 female age group. The German selection team lost three times in a row to the respective winners USA (2007 and 2008) and Sweden (2009).
