Desirée Schumann (born February 6, 1990 in West Berlin ) is a former German soccer player . The goalkeeper played for twelve years in the Bundesliga for 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and 1. FFC Frankfurt .
Life
Desirée Schumann was a student at the high school of the Catholic School Salvator in Berlin-Waidmannslust . She later switched to the "Friedrich Ludwig Jahn" sports school in Potsdam , which she left in 2009 with a high school diploma . In October 2009 she began studying European media studies at the University of Potsdam . Due to her athletic move to Frankfurt, she was unable to continue her studies, so that in October 2011 she decided to start a part-time study in the field of educational science at the FernUniversität in Hagen . In September 2017 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts .
Career

Desirée Schumann started her career at VfB Hermsdorf at the age of seven . At first she was a field player. When her team was without a goalkeeper, she moved to this position. In 2006 she moved to the 1st FFC Turbine Potsdam. In her first season she was mainly used in the second team that played in the 2nd Bundesliga North . She made her debut in the first team on October 14, 2007 against SC 07 Bad Neuenahr . On January 12, 2008, she won her first club success with the DFB indoor cup , which she was able to repeat in both 2009 and 2010. She also won the German championship in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and was the 2010 Champions League winner .
For the 2011/12 season she moved to 1. FFC Frankfurt. With the 1. FFC Frankfurt she reached the Champions League final for women in Munich in 2012 , but there she lost 2-0 to the French first division club Olympique Lyon in front of almost 50,000 spectators. In 2014 she and her team won the final of the DFB Cup 3-0 against SGS Essen in Cologne. Just a year later, she reached the Women's Champions League final again. This time 1. FFC Frankfurt won the final 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain , with Mandy Islacker only scoring the winning goal in stoppage time. With the UEFA Champions League victory in her hometown, a dream came true for the native of Berlin.
The Bundesliga game on June 3, 2018 (22nd matchday) against FC Bayern Munich , which was lost 0: 1, was the last of her football career; before the meeting she was solemnly adopted.
National team
On August 29, 2005 she made her debut in the national jersey of the U-15 national team, which defeated Scotland 7-0. She became the first national player for VfB Hermsdorf. On April 20, 2006, she made her debut in the 2-0 win against Denmark in the U-17 national team, for which she was a total of six times. In 2008 she reached the semi-finals of the European Championship with the U-19 national team , took third place with the U-20 national team at the World Cup in Chile and was U20 world champion in 2010 in her own country . On May 24, 2012 she played her first international match for the U-23 national team , which won against Sweden 2-0; it was also the last international match in her career. 2012 was appointed to the senior national team, but was not used in the qualifying matches for the European Championship.
