history

The district was first mentioned in the 11th century as "Botreche". "Buderche" (Büderich) was also mentioned in a list of the possessions and rights of the Meer Abbey from 1201. From 1392 to 1794 Büderich belonged to the Electoral Cologne office of Linn . Since 1422 the Lords of Büderich were enfeoffed with the Vogtei of Büderich by the Cologne Archbishopric. During an archbishop's visitation to Cologne in 1569, grievances were discovered in the Catholic parish in Büderich. In 1794 French troops under Napoleon occupied the place. The tranchot map shows that at that time the village of Büderich, which was located at the upper end of today's Dorfstrasse, together with the villages of Brühl (between Kanzlei, Blumenstrasse and Moerser Strasse), Necklenbroich (along Necklenbroicher Strasse) and Niederdunk (along Niederdonker Straße), as well as the hamlet "in der Meer" and various courtyards to form " Mairie Buderich". After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Büderich came to the Kingdom of Prussia , under which the Büderich mayor's office was established in 1816. It belonged to the Neuss district . After the First World War, the place was occupied by Belgian and French troops from 1918 to 1926. In 1929 Büderich came to the district of Grevenbroich-Neuss . After the Second World War, American troops occupied the place. In 1947 a Protestant adult education center was founded in Büderich. On January 1, 1970, Büderich was incorporated into the new town of Meerbusch. In 1974 the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia decided to dissolve the city of Meerbusch and to divide Büderich into the cities of Düsseldorf (main part) and Neuss. However, the city of Meerbusch obtained the suspension of the dissolution decision at the constitutional court in Münster . The state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia then confirmed the existence of the city of Meerbusch in 1976.

In one hand he wields a sword and in the other a shield, which in turn shows the coat of arms of the Lords of Büderich (a red ring in gold, set with four red clover leaves).
