The Neuss Am Kaiser stop is located in Neuss in the Barbaraviertel on the Neuss - Düsseldorf S-Bahn line and belongs to station category  4. In addition to the Barbaraviertel, it also opens up Düsseldorf-Heerdt and Meerbusch- Süd. Alongside Neuss Hauptbahnhof, it is the second transfer point between the Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn and the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn in the Neuss city area.

Location and structure

The stop is at kilometer  2.67 of the VzG route 2525 ( Neuss Hbf  - Düsseldorf Hbf  - Wuppertal Hbf - Schwelm  - Abzw Linderhausen). As planned, the route will only be used by the Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn trains. North of the S-Bahn line runs the VzG line 2550 ( Aachen Hbf  - Mönchengladbach Hbf  - Neuss Hbf - Düsseldorf Hbf - Wuppertal Hbf - Kassel Hbf ) for regional, long-distance and freight traffic. At the same time, the Willy-Brandt-Ring (Landesstraße 137) leads to the main line.

The stop has a 146 meter long and 96 centimeter high central platform with a roof. The only access leads to Düsseldorfer Straße (Landesstraße 380), which will be transferred in the area of the stop. In view of the cramped conditions, the stop has no ramps or lifts and is not barrier-free . In February 2016, the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr announced that it was planning to renovate the stop by 2023 at the latest as part of the modernization offensive 3 (MOF 3) co-financed by the federal and state governments. The plans included an extension of the platform, an elevator retrofit and a lowering to a height of 76 cm so that a uniform boarding height in the S-Bahn trains can be guaranteed in the long term.

history

The Neuss Am Kaiser stop was opened on May 29, 1988 as part of the construction of the East-West S-Bahn to open up the Barbaraviertel . The route Mönchengladbach - Dusseldorf was this expanded again four tracks between Neuss main station and Dusseldorf central station. In the course of the construction work, the Düsseldorfer Straße overpass was widened from 15 meters to 36 meters. This made it possible to build a special track for the Düsseldorf - Neuss light rail in the middle of the street.

service

The station is a pure S-Bahn stop. It is served by the S 8, S 11 and S 28 S-Bahn lines.
