The Düsseldorf Zoo stop is about two kilometers north of Düsseldorf Central Station in the Düsseldorf district of Düsseltal . It is located on the Cologne – Duisburg railway line and belongs to station category 4.
history
Also located at today's Franklin Bridge - just a few meters further to the west - was the Düsseldorf-Derendorf station of the Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft since 1889 (not to be confused with the Düsseldorf-Derendorf S-Bahn station that exists elsewhere today ) and the later one Freight station Düsseldorf-Derendorf.
In addition to the Bilk train station and the main train station, it was one of the three Düsseldorf train stations at the time. Located in the middle of the Derendorf freight depot, which opened in 1887, many hospital trains ended there during the First World War , as the wounded could be brought to the city hospitals inexpensively in converted trams.
The Düsseldorf-Derendorf stop was built in 1936 at its current location on Münsterstrasse. Below the Franklin Bridge, the Düsseldorf Zoo stop, which exists today, was not built until 1967 with the introduction of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn network . The current name is reminiscent of the Düsseldorf Zoological Garden, which was located nearby from 1876 to 1943 .
location
The stop is centrally located between the Düsseldorf districts of Düsseltal and Pempelfort . It has a central platform next to the Franklin Bridge, via which trams also cross the railway facilities, with access from there.
Lines
The stop is served by three lines of the Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn . The tram line 706 of the Rheinbahn and the 725 bus stop at Franklinbrücke .
