The Angermund stop is about 13 kilometers north of Düsseldorf Central Station and 11 kilometers south of Duisburg Central Station in the Angermund district of Düsseldorf . It is noteworthy that the name differs from that of the other Düsseldorf stations: even after the incorporation into Düsseldorf in 1975, the name of the city is still not placed in front of it.

It is located on the Cologne – Duisburg railway line and belongs to station category  5. According to the definition of the railway building and operating regulations, it is not a station , but a stopping point . The S-Bahn station is also a bus stop.

location

The train station is located in the middle of the village at the intersection of the south-north railway line with Angermunder Straße (L 139). This forms the main thoroughfare of the village and crosses the tracks at an almost right angle with a bridge . Just under 100 meters further south, Bahnhofstrasse runs from the east and An den Linden road from the west towards the railway body.

Furnishing

The stop has a central platform , which is located in the middle under the bridge and on the two western of the four main tracks. Access is at the southern end of the platform via an underpass , which has an exit to Bahnhofstrasse and An den Linden . The southern half of the platform is covered.

There is a bus stop at the end of Bahnhofstrasse and a car park with around 70 spaces on the west side .

future

As part of the Rhein-Ruhr-Express project, extensive renovations and expansions are to be carried out between Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and Duisburg Hauptbahnhof. Among other things, it is planned to lay a fifth and a sixth track between Düsseldorf Airport and Duisburg-Rahm . In Angermund, these extensions are to take place west of the existing tracks.

As a result, the stop would have to be relocated and thus de facto rebuilt. In the future, the new building will be equipped with an elevator that is handicapped accessible . In the course of the RRX project, noise barriers are to be built along the outer tracks according to plans by DB Netz . The local citizens' initiative, Initiative Angermund eV, suggests lowering the track and an enclosure variant as an alternative . According to an appraisal commissioned by the city of Düsseldorf, the more than six times the construction costs of 460 million euros, an extension of the construction period of seven years and the demolition of further buildings are out of proportion to the small effect compared to the construction of soundproof walls .

A citizens' initiative that is suing the construction is hoping for success in court, among other things, because there are no approval documents for parts of the existing route. At the January 2020 trial, the court dismissed the lawsuit.

Lines

The station is currently served by line S 1 of the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr and from the east by a bus line.
