The Düsseldorf-Unterrath train station is about eight kilometers north of Düsseldorf Central Station in the Unterrath district of Düsseldorf . It is located on the Cologne – Duisburg railway line and belongs to station category 4. It is served by the S-Bahn lines S 1 and S 11 of the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr . The Düsseldorf-Unterrath S-Bahn station is also a stop for several tram and bus lines.

The train station is centrally located between the districts of Düsseldorf-Unterrath, Düsseldorf-Lichtenbroich and Düsseldorf Airport . It has a central platform with entrances on both sides of Hamborner Straße and is located below a road bridge over which vehicles and people cross the railway systems. The bus stops assigned to this train station are also located on this bridge .
The tram stop is in the immediate vicinity on a turning loop on Usedomer Straße.
history
The station was opened in 1880 on the Cologne-Duisburg line of the Cöln-Mindener Eisenbahn . In 1975 the S-Bahn between Düsseldorf and Duisburg was opened, for which the station was fundamentally renewed. The existing siding to Düsseldorf Airport was expanded into an electrified main line. Since then, the station has been a separation station. In 1888, the airport route was lowered to make it cross-free, which also required reconstruction work in the station area.

The Unterrath S-Bahn station forms a junction between the S-Bahn shuttle service from the main station and the bus shuttle service between Unterrath and the ISS Dome at events.
