The station Ratingen is one of two stations with passenger transport in the city Ratingen in North Rhine-Westphalia and station of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn .
history
Ratingen Ost station was opened in 1872 as the Ratingen station of the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (BME) together with the Ruhr Valley Railway . After the nationalization of the BME, it was given its current name at the end of the 19th century. The train station is located between the East and Mitte districts of Ratingen and is particularly important for commuters in the Düsseldorf area .
From the former freight yard were u. a. serves the now dismantled sidings to the nearby companies Balcke-Dürr GmbH, Giesserei Wilhelm Pulch and Eisenhütte. The former freight yard was dismantled in favor of park-and-ride parking spaces.
Connection
The S-Bahn station Ratingen Ost line S 6 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn has a central platform with access at the north end of the platform. Directly accessible from the bus station , which is served by ten bus routes, as well as from the park-and-ride parking lots on Josef-Schappe-Straße. Until the renovation for the S-Bahn traffic, the station had a house platform and two intermediate platforms.
The bus routes are operated by the Rheinbahn . With the exception of line 760, all of these bus lines serve the central junction Ratingen Mitte , where there is a connection to the U 72 line of the Düsseldorf city railway .
