Björn Jensen (born January 12, 1965 in Hameln , Germany ) is a German film producer , consultant and filmmaker .

Life

He studied German , English , Medieval Studies and Theater Studies and holds a Magister degree (MA) from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on International Business from the University of Southern Queensland , Australia. Since 1990 Björn Jensen has worked on over 90 documentaries and feature films as a line producer, executive producer and consultant: for example “Quiet Days in Hollywood” with Hilary Swank, “Montreal Symphony” (Best Canadian Documentary Film FIFA), “Under the Ice” ( Best Documentary Kuala Lumpur Festival), "Truth Bought" (11 international festival awards) and many more. He was Head of Production for the production company Kick Film GmbH for 15 years before setting up his own business with Ginger Foot Films in 2007. For 6 years he was treasurer on the federal board of AG Documentary Film - AG DOK (the largest German independent film association).

With Ginger Foot Films he advises feature film and documentary film producers in the areas of story development, financing, production and sales. For German Documentaries, Jensen organizes the participation of German independent documentary filmmakers in international festivals and markets. He advises the Sunny Side of the Doc market for the Asian region, is Head of International Co-Production at the Chinese production company China Film Assist and works as VP Business Development for Reef Distribution, one of the leading distributors for 360 degree fulldome films.

He is on the board of the European Documentary Network (EDN), member of the tax committee of the German Cultural Council, expert of the Creative Europe program of the European Union, member of the evaluation committee for professional group III of the visual arts, jury member in the BKM (production funding B short film), member of Friends of the DOK.Fest Munich. He was awarded the positions of Senior Consultant of the Golden Panda International Documentary Festival (China) and Senior International Advisor of the "Youth Elite Cultivation Plan for International Media" (China).

Jensen moderates discussion events and pitchings. He is Academical Director of the European-Asian training initiative DOCROADS, a recognized trainer (AdA (IHK)), teaches at film schools in Europe and Asia and regularly offers workshops for production, financing and pitching.
