Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The Mettmann Zentrum stop is one of a total of three train stations in the North Rhine-Westphalian district town of Mettmann . It is located about 300 m south of the city center.
history
Since the buses in Mettmann are aligned with the central bus station at Jubiläumsplatz and branch off in all directions from the intersection of Bahnstraße / Talstraße / Breite Straße south of the square near the railway line, not all bus lines in Mettmann can be connected to the S 28 at Stadtwald station . As early as 1953, a new, additional train stop was set up in the immediate vicinity of the crossing Bahnstraße / Talstraße / Breite Straße. This was named Mettmann West because it is located west of the Mettmann Stadtwald train station , which at that time was still called Mettmann . Due to its direct location to the Mettmann Center, it was renamed Mettmann Center as part of the new S-Bahn operations . Mettmann train station was also given the new name Mettmann Stadtwald .
Location and structure
The stop is not located directly at the intersection, but 100 m south of this on the Brücker Straße, which was built as a pedestrian zone . It is also quite high above street level. The stop has two side platforms that can be reached barrier-free with elevator systems.

Since there are no turning options for buses at the Mettmann Zentrum stop due to lack of space, many bus routes go via “Mettmann-Zentrum S” to “Mettmann-Stadtwald S” to turn around there. However, the bus lines that run from Jubiläumsplatz to Stadtwald train station only serve the Mettmann-Zentrum stop in the direction of “Mettmann-Stadtwald”, so that passengers always have to travel one stop further to connect to them.
