The Hochdahl-Millrath stop is the easternmost of the four train stations in the city of Erkrath in the Mettmann district . The stop of the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr is on the Düsseldorf – Elberfeld line , about 12 kilometers east of Düsseldorf and 14 kilometers west of Wuppertal and is of great importance for commuter traffic to the two major cities.

Location and structure

The stop is between the Hochdahl and Haan-Gruiten train stations , north of the Hochdahl- Millrath district of Erkrath . To the south of the stop, Gruitener Strasse runs parallel to the central platform , and the Millrath S / Feldstrasse bus stop is located there . North of the platform there is a P + R parking lot with another bus stop, Millrath S . Further north there is an undeveloped area, which belongs to the Neandertal . The central platform can be reached from both sides via an underpass with stairs and a lift.

history

The breakpoint was opened in 1968. At that time, the population of Hochdahl increased significantly as a result of the New City Hochdahl project , which is why the need for better rail connections to the eastern parts of the city grew. In 1988 S-Bahn operations were finally introduced on the line.

service

The stop is currently served by two Deutsche Bahn S- Bahn lines, the S8 and the S68. The S68 serves as a repeater line and only runs during rush hour, until 2009 the S11 line had this function. The two bus stops Millrath S (north of the railway line, at the P + R parking lot) and Millrath S / Feldstraße (south of the platform, on Gruitener Straße) are operated by two local bus lines (O5 and O6) of the Rheinbahn . The Millrath S / Feldstrasse stop is used by many passengers as an exit stop for the S-Bahn stop, and the final stop, Millrath S, as an entry stop from the S-Bahn stop.
