It is the only rail traffic stop in Kaarst on the Mönchengladbach – Düsseldorf railway line. All other four are on their branch line Neuss – Kaarster See .

location

The stop is in the center of the Kaarst district of Büttgen , which was independent until December 31, 1974 . The breakpoint was not renamed after the merger of the municipalities of Büttgen and Kaarst. The stopping point becomes the Büttgen traffic junction and the most important stop in Kaarst for those traveling in the direction of Mönchengladbach . In addition, the stop has an important function for school traffic, as many students at the Büttgen Comprehensive School come from the area, mostly from Neuss .

history

At the urging of the mayor of Büttgen, the Büttgen station was built by the Aachen-Düsseldorf-Ruhrorter Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft in 1868. After the construction of the station, there were repeated complaints from citizens that the rail link was too unattractive; these complaints continued to decline and, at the latest after the First World War , the station was also viewed by the residents as part of Büttgen. After the amalgamation of the municipalities of Büttgen and Kaarst to form the large municipality of Kaarst (since 1981 city of Kaarst), the name of the station was not changed.

With the introduction of the S 8 line of the Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn , the station was converted into a stop.
