The Wülfrath-Aprath stop is currently the only train station with passenger traffic in Wülfrath . It is a stop on the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn . It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel-Essen-Überruhr railway line . With the Hahnenfurth-Düssel stop , Wülfrath will have a second stop.
history
Together with the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel-Essen-Überruhr railway , the station was opened in the then independent town of Aprath on December 1, 1847, by the Prince Wilhelm Railway Company at 4.6 km. The station had extensive track systems for freight traffic, southeast of the station was a lime kiln of the Rheinische Kalkwerke with a siding. The lime works was shut down before 1970 and the tracks were dismantled. Passenger traffic in the station ceased in 1965. In 1990 the station building burned down and was demolished as a result of the fire damage.
At the end of 2003 the stop was reactivated as Wülfrath-Aprath in order to connect Wülfrath to the newly created S-Bahn. The S-Bahn stop connects Aprath with Wuppertal-Vohwinkel and Essen and is served by the S 9 line of the Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn.
service
Wülfrath-Aprath is a stop for S-Bahn line 9 and two WSW mobil bus lines .
