The Essen-Holthausen stop is one of two S-Bahn stops in the Überruhr district of Essen . It is located in Überruhr-Holthausen. The other S-Bahn stop in Essen-Überruhr is Essen-Überruhr in Überruhr-Hinsel.
Location and structure
The stop has two side platforms. These can be reached via stairs and elevators. A bridge structure leads from these two side platforms to Langenberger Straße, a little over 100 meters to the east, where the Holthausen Bf stop of the Ruhrbahn, named after the stop, is located.
History and character
The breakpoint was opened in 1945 to develop the Heinrich colliery , but closed again a year later. In 1985 it was reopened for passenger traffic on the N 9 local transport line. In 1998, as part of the re-sorting of train numbers between Haltern am See and Essen, the S 9 and between Essen and Wuppertal the RB 49 were introduced. After the line between Essen and Wuppertal had been fully electrified, the RB 49 was replaced in December 2003 by the S 9 S-Bahn line, which has since continuously connected Haltern and Wuppertal.
service
Since 2003, the S 9 has been running every 20 minutes on weekdays between Wuppertal via Essen to Bottrop and once an hour to Haltern am See . Bus line 177 and at night the NE6 of the Ruhrbahn run on Langenberger Straße, which runs parallel to the S-Bahn line. These serve the Holthausen Bf stop, which is more than 100 meters to the east, but at the level of the stop .
