Hetterscheidt is one of the five districts of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Heiligenhaus . Hetterscheidt is in the east of the city and borders on Velbert .

history

In 847 the "Villa Hestratescethe" was given to the Werden monastery in a deed of donation and the place was first mentioned in a document. In a document from 1386 a "Johann von Hetterscheid" is cited, which is presumably to be assigned to a knightly estate at that time in the range of the honor Retterscheid.

Until the 19th century, the Honschaft Hetterscheidt was one of the lowest administrative units in the rural outskirts of the Bergisch mayor's office of Velbert .

Architectural monuments

Several buildings in Hetterscheidt are on the Heiligenhaus monument list . In the abbot kitchen area, this includes the St. Jakobus chapel and the fortified tower of the former Hetterscheidt house .

traffic

The federal road 227 runs through Hetterscheidt . In addition, Hetterscheid is connected to the A 44 to Essen and (from probably 2022 also) to Düsseldorf via the Heiligenhaus-Hetterscheid motorway junction .
