St. Mary under the Cross

St. Maria unter dem Kreuze is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Unterrath district of the North Rhine-Westphalian capital Düsseldorf in Germany .

history

The construction of the neogothic held three-aisled basilica took place in the years 1869 to 1873 by the architect August Rincklake consecrated it was on September 14 1,873th

Between 1930 and 1931 the church was expanded by Paul Sültenfuß . An extensive restoration took place in the early 1970s.

The former parish of St. Maria under the Cross was merged on January 1, 2011 due to a lack of priests into the large parish of the Holy Family with more than (2012) 13,000 believers.

organ

The organ was built in 1974 by the organ builder Willi Peter (Cologne). The slider chests -instrument has 24 registers on two manuals and pedal . The playing and stop actions are electric.
