Manfred Becker-Huberti

Manfred Becker-Huberti (born July 26, 1945 in Koblenz ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian . From 1991 to 2006 he was press spokesman for the Archdiocese of Cologne . Since 2007 he has been an honorary professor at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar .

Career

Becker-Huberti attended schools in Düsseldorf and Neuss from 1952 to 1966 . He then studied Catholic theology, journalism and communication studies as well as philosophy, education and art history in Bonn and Münster . During his studies he received a scholarship from the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists of the German Bishops' Conference. In 1975 he finished his studies with a doctorate to become Dr. theol.

Between 1975 and 1989 he was entrusted with teaching activities at schools and universities. At the same time, he acted between 1978 and 1986 as head of the Catholic school department and catechetical institute in the city and district dean of Neuss and from 1979 to 1986 as the representative of the Archdiocese of Cologne for inspecting religious education in the district of Düsseldorf for elementary, secondary and secondary schools High schools. From 1979 to 1987 he was also the head of the Catholic screen text editorial department of the dioceses in North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf.

From 1987 to 1990 he was the representative of the Archdiocese of Cologne for private broadcasting and from 1988 to 1991 at the same time the representative of the German Bishops' Conference for RTL . In 1990 he was appointed head of the "Press and Public Relations" department in the Archbishop's General Vicariate of Cologne and press spokesman for the Archdiocese of Cologne. In addition to his work as press spokesman, he was a lecturer in media studies at the Archbishop's Seminary in Cologne from 1998 to 2006 and lecturer in media studies at the Archbishop's Diaconal Institute in Cologne from 2003 to 2006.
