The stop Solingen Vogelpark is a stop in the west of the mountainous city of Solingen . The breakpoint was opened at the end of January 1977.
Location and structure
The Solingen Vogelpark stop is located in the far west of the city in the district of Ohligs , around one kilometer from the city limits of Hilden . It opens up the residential and commercial areas in the west of Ohligs that were built in the 1960s and 1970s and is only a few minutes' drive from Solingen Central Station. It is named after the Solingen bird and zoo , located approx. 900 m southwest of the air line .
The stop has two side platforms that connect to Hildener Straße via a northern exit, the platform in the direction of Düsseldorf is connected directly via a ramp and that in the direction of Solingen Hbf is connected indirectly via a staircase to the side street Ulmenstraße. There are parking spaces between this entrance and Hildener Straße. The side platforms also both have a barrier-free southern exit that connects to the residential streets Elsässer Straße and Brabantstraße (platform towards Düsseldorf) and Benrather and Dunkelberger Straße (platform towards Solingen Hbf). In this area, the railway line is underpassed in a pedestrian tunnel so that both platforms can be reached. When the stop was put into operation, there was still a level crossing here , but it was closed before the S-Bahn traffic started operating in 1980 and replaced by the pedestrian tunnel.
history
The Hilden - Ohligs-Wald railway (later Ohligs, then Solingen-Ohligs, today Solingen Hbf ) was put into operation on January 3, 1894. With the closing of this gap, a continuous rail connection was created between Düsseldorf Hbf via Hilden and Ohligs-Wald to Solingen Weyersberg . With the commissioning of the Müngstener Bridge on July 15, 1897, a further extension was made via Remscheid to Lennep . In the Hilden - Ohligs-Wald section, which was opened on January 3, 1894, there were initially no intermediate stations.
The Solingen Vogelpark stop was put into operation on January 23, 1977. It was a structural preliminary work for the S-Bahn operation on the line S7 Düsseldorf Airport - Düsseldorf Hbf - Hilden - Solingen-Ohligs (today Solingen Hbf ), which went into operation on September 28, 1980.
With the timetable change on December 13, 2009, the network of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn was revised. The S7 was omitted, its tasks were taken over by two other S-Bahn lines. Its north branch ( Düsseldorf Airport Terminal - Düsseldorf Hbf ) fell to the S11 and its south branch ( Düsseldorf Hbf - Solingen Hbf ) fell to the S1. Since then, the stop has been served by the S1 line. Line number S7 has been used since December 15, 2013 for the diesel-powered line Solingen Hbf - Remscheid-Lennep - Wuppertal Hbf , whose trains run twice in each direction to and from Düsseldorf Hbf , Monday to Friday during rush hour, but do not stop at Solingen Vogelpark .
