The railway Dusseldorf-Solingen is a continuous double-track and overhead line provided railway in Germany .
The 19-kilometer route connects the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital Düsseldorf with Solingen and is now used exclusively by the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn .
history
- 1891: from Düsseldorf to Düsseldorf-Eller (shared use of the Rhine route between Düsseldorf-Eller and Hilden)
- 1894: from Hilden to Ohligs (-Wald)
- 1917: new, parallel line from Düsseldorf-Eller to Hilden
- January 23, 1977: opening of the Stop at the Solingen bird park. This opens up the residential and commercial areas in the west of Ohlig that were built in the 1960s and 1970s.
Offer
- Since 1979/80 line S 7 to Düsseldorf Airport (Terminal)
- In the rush hour connection to the S 1 line to Dortmund via Duisburg / Essen / Bochum
- Since 2009 discontinuation of the S 7 and permanent integration of the S 1
- Plans to electrify the line to Remscheid and to connect the S-Bahn to Wuppertal
The entire length of the route is used by the S 1 line of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn , mostly every 20 minutes.
Tariff
The entire route is in the area of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association . In addition, the NRW tariff applies (for longer journeys across the network) .
The VRS tariff also applies to the section between Solingen-Vogelpark and Solingen Hbf , which is mainly used for trips to the VRS area.
