The Essen-Eiberg stop is a S-Bahn stop in the Freisenbruch district of Essen .
history
The name of the S-Bahn stop goes back to the former municipality of Eiberg , whose area today extends over western parts of Bochum and areas of today's eastern Essen districts Freisenbruch and Horst .
The stop, which was built in the late 1960s, is now in the southeastern part of Freisenbruch on the Witten / Dortmund – Oberhausen / Duisburg railway line , which went into operation in this area in 1874 as part of the large east-west axis of the Ruhr area .
Investments
The stop has two side platforms, which are connected to the neighboring streets on both sides by footpaths and ramps. The transition from one platform to another is only possible via the public street space.
Todays situation
The breakpoint is in rail transport today only from the line S1, the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr operated ( Kursbuch routes 450.1). Both side platforms are barrier-free.
The stopping point has the abbreviation EEIB in the operating point directory of Deutsche Bahn . The stop is in the station category 5 as a S-Bahn stop mainly for commuters .
