history

The old church of St. Pankratius 1868

The place was first mentioned as "Glene" in the 12th century. Presumably this is the old name of the Jüchener Bach that flows through Glehn. The Catholic parish of St. Pankratius was first mentioned in 1276 . Since then, the place has belonged to the count's land in the Electoral Cologne office of Hülchrath . In 1794 the village was occupied by the French revolutionary troops. In 1815 it came to the Kingdom of Prussia and in 1816 to the district of Neuss , at the same time the independent municipality of Glehn was established. It consisted of the villages of Glehn, Lanzerath, Epsendorf, Scherfhausen and Schlich. In 1823 the community of Glehn exchanged the village of Lanzerath for the village of Lüttenglehn with the community of Grefrath . In 1935 the municipality of Glehn came to the Glehn office , to which the municipality of Liedberg also belonged.

On January 1, 1975 Glehn was incorporated into Korschenbroich. The last mayor of the community of Glehn was Günter Wappenschmidt ( CDU ), his deputy Peter Esser (CDU).
